Porsche claimed that their 2016 edition of their BoxsterSpyder is the strongest, lightest and fastest of the BoxterSypders. The renowned brand achieved the said qualities by its minimalist approach endowed to the sports car’s amenities.
Exterior and Interior
The whole package, with its elegant white coating, speaks coolness of simplicity. Unique front and rear fascia catches enough attention as the roaster speeds away on the roads and highways. To help with the lightness, a very lightweight manual fabric roof was installed. Yes, folks, we say ‘manual’ since you can stretch your arms and do the opening and closing of the roof.
Peering inside, you can note of the Spartan mode of the interior setting: no navigation system, radio, speakers or air conditioner. Now, who would want such piece of technology without enhancements? Only the hard-core purists and Spartans can be able to answer that craving need of having the mere basics. However, before you turn your back, Porsche is quick to amend that they can install back the said amenities without extra cost except for the Boxster audio upgrades and Porsche infotainment and navigation systems. So goodie for you, people, Spartan or no Spartan, you can still get the basic entertainment and comfort.
Engine, Transmission and Price
Added to the lightness factor is the omission of any option pertaining to automatic transmission.Instead of the former option, the 6-speed manual comes available.The strength comes from the sportier suspension of having 20mm lower than the standard height of the previous Boxsters. It has also been endowed by a 3.8L 6 cylinder engine sitting right at the middle of the speedster. It can summon at least 375 horse power and 309 lb.-ft. of torque.
Curiously, it is set to compete with two of its brand siblings namely: Porsche Cayman and Cayman GT4 along with top-tier Chevrolet Corvette. Also, if you’re not interested in plain white, you can get BoxsterSpyder in Racing yellow and Guards Red.
