How to Keep Yourself from Catching your own Pet’s Disease

Most people think that because of the huge advance in Medicine for the past decade, it is entirely impossible for us to catch diseases easily. However, unknown to most of us, there is an easy vector for us to contract some rare diseases, in the form of our cute pets. Due to the fact that most pet owners tend to embrace and kiss their pets (unless it’s a bird or a lizard, of course), there’s a chance that we can also catch whatever microbes they have.

In order to keep ourselves safe, we must try to remember and follow these things. This works not only for our safety but also for our well-beloved pet’s safety as well.

  1. Always wash your hands after playing with your pet. Needless to say, you must wash your hands and your face (especially if you have a dog) after playing with your pets.

  1. Clean your wounds or scratches after play. There are times that you tend to get wounds, bites and scratches right after playing with your pet dog or cat. When that happens, wash, clean and disinfect it properly.

  1. Use gloves when cleaning your pets and their cages. If in case that your pet lives inside a cage, always make sure that they and their cages remains clean and disinfected.

  1. Take your pet to a veterinarian if your pet is sick. At the first sign of their illness, take your pet to the veterinarian in order for it to receive proper medication.
