At this time of writing, Apple’s iOS 9 Beta 1 is on the roll out for eager developers. As we’ve mentioned earlier, iOS 9 will come out to the public in three wonderful layers. First is the Beta 1 for the developers; then the Public Beta; and then finally, the official iOS9.
Unknown to many folks, even a simple guy like you without a developer’s account can run the Beta 1 on their devices. That is, if they have one of the following Apples in their possession:
iPhone:
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone 5c
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 4s
iPad:
- iPad Air 2
- iPad Air
- iPad mini 3
- iPad mini 2
- iPad mini
- iPad 4
- iPad 3
- iPad 2
- iPod touch 5th-gen
Directions
- Perform a back-up on your iCloud storage and download the software compatible for your device. Click on the name of your device in the list below and you’ll be navigated to the download page:
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 5S(A1453_A1533)
- iPhone 5S(A1457_A1518_A1528_A1530)
- iPhone 5C(A1456_A1532)
- iPhone 5(A1428)
- iPhone 5(A1429)
- iPhone 4S
- Once you have already downloaded your software installer, unarchive it on your desktop and choose your device on iTunes. Press and hold the Alt key (on Mac) or the Shift key (on Windows) while you click on “Check for update.”
- Select the iOS Beta 9 file from your computer and wait till the update is completed. Remember that with this method none of the files you stored for backup can be restored unless you went back to iOS 8.3. To get your stuff just download them back to your device from the iCloud storage.
