Engineering Service Exam 2014: UPSC Recruitment

UPSC is the constitutional body which is responsible for conducting exams to the top posts in the country. All the exams conducted by UPSC are prestigious and the competition will be very high for these exams.

UPSC releases notifications to fill all the engineering posts every year. Apart from engineering posts, UPSC every year releases a notification to fill Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and Junior Hydro-geologist, Medical Officer Posts etc. Recently UPSC released a notification to fill 1722 Geologist, CMS & ESE Posts.

There are 265 posts under the Geologist category out of which 260 are Geologist (Geologist Group A: 100 Posts and Geophysicist Group A: 80 Posts Geo-Chemist Group A: 80 Posts) and 5 are scientist (Junior Hydro-geologist (Scientist B) Group A) posts. Candidates who are aspiring for these jobs must possess a Masters degree in Geology related subjects like Applied Geology, Geological Science and Geology etc. from a recognised university. Candidates need to pay Rs.200/- through Net banking of SBI. The selection process will include a written test followed by an interview. UPSC conducts Engineering Services Exam to fill top vacancies in the engineering departments across the country. The competition for this exam is very high as almost all the engineering professionals who has good grip on the subject will appear for this exam. This year UPSC released a notification to fill 582 vacancies under the categories of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication etc. The candidates appearing for this exam must have completed their bachelors degree in engineering from a recognised board/university. He must have at least 21 years of age and must not be older than 30 years. Candidates who are eligible are called for written test and the scrutinized candidates will be interviewed and the final list of candidates who got selected will be announced after that.

Combined Medical Services Exam is also conducted by UPSC (this year 875 vacancies) every year. Candidates who had completed their MBBS from a recognised college are eligible for this. The selection and examination procedure is same as above. The posts vary from Assistant Divisional Medical Officers in Railways, Assistant Medical Officer in Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service, General Duty Medical Officer Gr. II in Delhi Municipal Corporation, Junior Scale Posts in Central Health Services, General Duty Medical Officer etc.
