Tamil Nadu is a state where the demand for higher education is very high. Anna University is very famous for engineering as well as medical admissions. MBBS is very prestigious in India and who studied medicine in India are well qualified than others.
Those who want to study medicine in Tamil Nadu have to complete their Plus Two or equivalent from a recognized board or university and apply for Tamil Nadu Medical Counselling to get an admission. One can apply for this from May 30th and last date to apply is 2nd June 2014
MBBS :- To apply for MBBS one must have completed at least 17 years of age and candidate must pass all the exams of 12th standard in single sitting and must have studied all subjects i.e Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology in Plus Two. The criteria of eligibility vary from OC to OBC to SC/ST and physically disabled. OC candidates must get at least 60% in Physics and Chemistry combined and 60% in Botany and Zoology combined and an aggregate of more than 70% i.e. (a minimum of 140 out of 200 in TN board). For BC candidates the criterion is same as OC, but candidates who secured 65% aggregate are also eligible. For SC/ST candidates 40% of marks is needed where as candidates who physically disabled can apply for counselling if they have 45% of marks.
B.DS :- The eligibility requirements for B.DS is somewhat liberal when compared with MBBS. For SC and ST candidates the minimum qualifying marks is 40% and for physically disabled it is 45%. For all the remaining candidates, minimum marks to apply for counselling is 50%. Please note here that Normalization method will be adopted for calculating the minimum eligibility mark for the candidates who have passed any other equivalent examination (other than TN board).
Candidates who are interested and eligible to apply for the Tamil Nadu Medical counselling and seeking admission to MBBS/BDS courses should submit the application form with necessary enclosures which should reach “THE SECRETARY, SELECTION COMMITTEE,
162, E.V.R. PERIYAR SALAI, KILPAUK, CHENNAI – 600 010” on or before 02-06-2014 by 5.00 p.m. Candidates can go through the notification to get full idea about the application form, documents to be enclosed, fee particulars and other details.
