Google Pixel and Pixel XL: The Rumored Smartphones now Officially Announced

For some time now, tech experts have been receiving some rumors in regards to Google having plans to remove the long-running Nexus smartphone line. According to further rumors, the rumored ones will be Google’s doing alone unlike what they usually do with Nexus smartphones before. And it turns out that the rumors are actually true.

Google Pixel and Pixel XL: The Rumored Smartphones now Officially Announced

During their official press event in San Francisco this week, Google had announced their brand-new smartphone brand, the Pixel and Pixel XL. Manufactured in order to bring the best of the company to their customers’ fingertips, Google Pixel and Pixel XL are exclusively made by the company itself. In order to make things straight, Google had made these smartphones ALONE.

The two smartphones have sleek and shiny aluminum built having some glass covering its front and upper back parts. You can easily see the company’s fingerprint reader, the Pixel Imprint at the rear part. The smartphones are said to come in three color variants: Really Blue, Very Silver and Quite Black color versions. The Really Blue, however, is said to be available in the U.S. only. The smartphones’ display both use Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which is known for its superior scratch resistance and durability.

Looking at the inside, Pixel and Pixel XL are said to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC as their installed chipset. They both contain 4GB RAM and 32 or 128GB internal storage. However, both smartphones do not have microSD card slots for storage expansions. And to no surprise, both smartphones will run in Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

On the software side, both smartphones have the latest Google Assistant, which can be compared to a more advanced Google Now. You can easily ask it to provide GPS coordinates or map directions, send texts, make calls and lots more. They are also compatible with Daydream VR, which makes them the first smartphones to have such feature.

As of now, pre-orders can now be made via Google Play Store if you’re inside U.S. Price starts at $650 for Google Pixel and $770 for Pixel XL. You can also add $100 if you want to have the 128GB variant instead.
