Microsoft Lumia 550 : First Entry-level Handset with Windows 10 Mobile OS

Microsoft is slowly approaching the front row in the fleet of smartphones.  Yes, it is a cutthroat competition when it comes to this industry.  But it’s yet too early to conclude that the giant name in computer technology doesn’t have what it takes to join Apple in front line.  After all, Microsoft already established its ground at the entry-level category.  It may take time till it dominates the midrange and high-end segments but remember Microsoft’s name isn’t something to be scoffed at.

This year, the Redmond titan brings Lumia 550 to compete in the entry-level segment.  It sports decent features despite the basic hardware specifications.  To begin with, it provides a 4.7-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen display rich in pixel density and with the resource-efficient Windows 10 mobile OS aboard, budget-friendly consumers are more likely to rave for this against Lumia 550’s Android contenders.

For your info, Lumia 550 is the first low-end device to sport the latest Windows 10 Mobile and also bears the SoC that supports the now-trending 4G LTE connectivity. It may have a limited native storage but microSD slot for expansion was made available.

Microsoft made the body simple with polycarbonate material but that’s perfectly fine considering the sub €150 (or sub-€100 in observance of the spirit of holiday season).
