If anyone wants a budget phone with aluminum metal body and fingerprint sensor, then this is it. Pepsi has lent its logo to a smartphone manufactured by the Chinese device maker, Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment.
It was last October when rumors about Pepsi making its own Android phone started circulating. Apparently, the rumors are true since we are now welcoming Phone 1. The soda company began raising their capital on November 18. Within a day, Pepsi was able to raise more than 580,000 Yuan of its 3M Yuan goal. As it appears, there is a great possibility that the company can raise the target even before the fundraising period expires.
Funders will receive the dual-SIM P1 at a price of only 699 Yuan but the final pricing will be 1,299 (~$207) which is still rather cheap considering factors such as the aluminum body, fingerprint sensor, 4G LTE connectivity, Octacore processor, 13MP-5MP snappers and 3,000 mAh juicer. A 5.5-inch Full-HD display with 2.5D glass will also grace the front fascia of the smartphone.
There’s no word yet for the availability of the handset outside the borders of China. But hopefully, the soda company would consider bringing it to the international market.
