While terms such as ‘psych,’ ‘psyched,’ ‘pop-psychology’ or even ‘psycho’ are popularize over the net for the past decade, just what is the term ‘psychology’ really mean?  In its most basic definition, it means, “study of the mind, personality and behavior.”  Psychology aims to understand the emotional, intellectual and behavioral aspect of beings.

Thus, the work of psychologists encompasses a wide variety of topics and disciplines.  While the work of psychologists have been popularized through fiction and movies as stereotype mind surgeons to the point of being magical, or someone who endlessly asks methodological questions, just what is the real thing about this job?

Yes, there are psychologists who work in psychiatric establishments and with the police or military.  However, there are many psychologists who also work in schools and companies.  These professionals help design work schemes that will be conducive to students and employees respectively.  Sometimes, they serve as someone a person can talk to in order to vent out suppressed feelings or unexplained behavior.  All in all, these people aim to help improve society and humanity.  Examples of the disciplines within this area of science are:
