If you’re an American, application and renewal of passports are made in a very convenient way. Compared to other countries, passport and other kinds of documentation are both fast and easy, as long as you have the time to personally appear before DMV or post office for the requirements. However, if you’re too busy for work, you don’t have the time to do this alone, right? This is the main reason why app developers have made an app that will let you apply for passport renewals even without a personal appearance or trip to DMV or Post Office.
The app was created by ItsEasy, a company that specializes in US passport and visa expediting since 1976. Being the first of its kind, the ItsEasy app lets the user apply for a passport renewal and visas by using their iPhones, even without personal appearance. This sure sounds very convenient, especially for those who are too busy with their work to bother visiting the post office even for a day. If you’re concerned about the security risks, be informed that any transactions made within the app are very secure, aside from the fact that your iPhone’s security also brings additional security.
As for the time of this writing, the ItsEasy passport service fee amounts to $29.95 alone, in addition to the US State Department’s passport renewal fee, which is $110 for ages 16 years old onwards and $80 for 15 years old and below. The said service also includes a USPS shipping label, which allows them to have your passport photos emailed or snail-mailed to you, in addition to the transaction tracking feature that lets you see whether the renewal process is finished or still on-going.
If you’re in a rush and need your passport, it’s possible for the service to process your request for ten days at additional $89 starting fee. If you still don’t have the time, you can have your passport within one to three days at additional $289 starting fee, excluding the other renewal expenses.
Once you have paid all of the corresponding fees regarding your passport renewal, the ItsEasy app will then email the passport details to you. You will then need to print the details as a proof whenever your passport gets delivered to you.
As of now, the app is only available for iPhone users (Download app), though the company had promised that they’re going to make an Android version as soon as possible.
