Recently, Audi had made significant and noticeable changes to its SUV models: Minimizing the overall weight while putting advanced technology at the same time. The new 2017 Audi Q7 3.0t, is no exemption; as a matter of fact, it adapted the same technology from its predecessor. How about the model’s overall performance result? Just as the testers said, this one meets their expectations BIG TIME.
How did the company managed to perform this kind of ‘diet’? According to them, it’s because of a high-strength steel structure largely skinned with aluminum panels, small amounts of aluminum in the revised front and rear multilink suspensions, and a standard eight-speed automatic gearbox. As a whole, even though Audi claims to have reduced it at least by 700 pounds, tests somehow showed that it was only 270 pounds lighter. But despite that fact, the results are somehow very significant.
Audi’s familiar supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 gas engine that runs at 333 horsepower and 325 lb-ft torque at just 2900 rpm is a fantastic and very fast engine. It is noticeable that it reached 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds despite the 5080-pound weight, making it faster than BMW X5 xDrive35i and 2016 Volvo XC90. Though it is about the same height as the original, this second-generation Q7 looks positively wagon-like on the street. Aside from Quattro all-wheel drive and a brake-based torque-vector system, Drive Select Feature is also included. You can also adjust the suspension, engine, transmission and more via Auto, Dynamic, Comfort, All-Road, Off-Road and Individual Mode settings.
