Cadillac beats LA Auto Show next week into introducing its latest debutante, the 2017 XT5. Many were no longer surprised with the news that the brand will be scratching off SRX to make way to the new moniker. However, clients and Cadillac fans may want to ask this question: What’s more than in just renaming the old SRX?
Exterior and Interior
Before we describe the exterior and interior aspects, let’s talk about the new XT5 moniker. According to the brand, it means ‘Crossover Touring 5’ which signals the start of new naming scheme for their crossovers. This taxonomic scheme (including the sedan CT6) should help customers understand model hierarchy.
As for the exterior, XT5 shows of the aura of dynamism and one can see an abundance of slashes and creases. It also shows off a more conservative grille stamped with Cadillac’s emblem—noticeably, sans the wreath. Fashionably, it uses the full-LED lights for the both headlamps and daytime running light. The maker also shed 278 lbs. as compared to the previous SRX to make way to its new platform design.
Inside, XT5 uses the Rear Camera Mirror system which was seen also on CT6. This makes the driver to stream video from a rear-mounted camera to the rearview mirror to give a clearer view and cut off obstructions like the rear pillar that usually limit the view on a traditional mirror.
Cadillac’s clientele may also find new tech features interesting which include integrated wireless phone charging, CUE touchscreen infotainment, redesigned steering wheel, 4GLTE and Wi-Fi hotspot, head-up display (optional) and LED interior ambient lighting. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay should also be available when XT5 goes on sale
