Chevy’s 2016 Malibu 2.0T may not be a front-runner in the race of family sedans but it surely has its own perks. If you’re one of the prejudiced consumers knowing that Malibu had the reputation of being just ‘too boring’ or ‘too unpredictable’ and the many complaints in between, then just give this 2016 version the benefit of the doubt.
Appearance
Visibly, Malibu holds that modern swept look and that’s a big thanks to the body creases. The creases enable the light and shadow to play significant role in endowing the sedan eye-catching charm. Mid-front, you can see the squinting the fashionable LED headlights giving it that slightly menacing look.
Cabin
The complexity of the dash can either turn you on or off. Firstly, it is sculpted from a myriad of pieces with various textures and colors, involving the revolutionary artificial wood with pin-striping details. Leveling up your dash is the optional 8-inch touchscreen that comes standard on the Premier trim, but lesser trims get the 7-inch variant. Significantly, it looks like a docked iPad with large icons and function buttons, including the Apple CarPlay. You can either get busy with it using your fingertips or merely throw a command using your voice while concentrating on your driving.
Back-seat passengers get comfortable with few extra inches for their legs. Overall, the cabin holds the solace and classy charm expected in it.
Ability
While the Malibu isn’t something really sporty (sorry, sporty folks), it is really an impressive sedan designed for family comfort. The four-cylinder core summons enough horsepower and torque by 250 and 258 pound-feet respectively. It can sprint from mere zero to 60 in 6.1 seconds and achieve the top speed of 156 miles per hour. Even the fuel efficiency is quite spectacular by 22 miles per gallon within the city and 32 miles per gallon on highways.
