Jaguar XJ 2016 : Certifiably for the Minimalists of the Opulent Crowd

Conservatives and minimalists will truly love the beautifully unique 2016 Jaguar XJ.  Unfortunately, when it comes to sales competition Jaguar loses to BMW by ratio of 6:1.  Yet despite this sad picture, the flipside suggests exclusivity for the limited number of Jaguar XJ patrons.  So, do you want to join the eccentric club?

Exterior

XJ’s exterior bears the same design language as its predecessor.  Gracing mid front is the loud grille that is even bigger than the previous model complete the fresh wire mesh pattern and is sandwiched by the standard adaptive LED headlamps.

 

As you can see in the pictures, the carmaker endowed XJ with minimal yet uniquely charming appearance that speaks muted class and elegance.  Just take a look at the graceful roofline, subtle curves and that sexy rear pillar.

 

Interior

Drastic changes are seen once you get inside.  It features InControl Touch Pro system that sports a quadcore CPU, 60GB storage and 8.0-inch touchscreen.  It practically performs just like a smartphone wherein you can use apps to track the weather and flight schedules.   The new navigation system highlights functionalities such as putting the map in the instrument display screen, pinch to zoom and satellite mapping.

 

Meanwhile, XJL Supercharged trim offers quilted leather cabin but the rest of the trims still have the interior brightwork from the previous model.

 

 

Under the Hood

XJ gets a 3-liter supercharged V6 capable of procuring 340hp, 332 pound-feet of torque and sprint from mere zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds.  Drivetrain is offered in two flavors—RWD and 4WD though the former is usually chosen by power-driven clientele.  On the other hand a 5-liter V8 empowers the Supercharged trim and is capable of 550 horsepower.  All engine variants are partnered with an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox, making the vehicle performance as smooth as it can be.
