The first generation of Mazda CX-9’s term is near to an end. After almost 10 years of waiting, the second generation is on its way to captivate the hearts of the practical but stylish crowd. The only issue found for the 2016 Mazda CX-9 is about its power, but that does NOT mean that it is no fun at all!
Exterior and Interior
Mazda stays true to Kodo’s design language as it is evident to the handsome and smooth style sported by the second gen CX-9. Added to the external factor is the interior prowess of the crossover. There’s nothing too much about the styling but you can be wowed by how Mazda chose the materials used for the cabin. First, you can give more justice to the Nappa leather with genuine rosewood commissioned from a Japanese guitar maker. Aluminum accents on the doors and dash for more premium feel are available for all trims. French-stitched detailing renders class and the acoustic-laminated glass for the front-side windows helps with noise control.
Powertrain and Other features
For the base engine, Mazda CX-9 offers 2.5-liter turbocharged Skyactiv that is capable with mere 250 horsepower but impressive 310 pound-feet of torque. The crossover houses a 6-speed automatic gearbox plays all too well with the all-wheel drivetrain. Now, using 22 various sensors, the system measures road conditions for about two hundred times per second and is responsible to 50% of the engine’s power to the rear axle.
According to the reports CX-9 will be available in Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trims.
