Volvo’s 2016 XC90 that was released earlier this year received quite a number of accolades and heaped revenues for the company. It was truly a champion in the fleet of SUVs. And just like XC90, the upcoming Volvo S90 is expected to be a segment-topper as well as a money magnet.
Exterior
Just like XC90, the sedan S90 bears the same design language including a brand new grille and the Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights. Meanwhile, its headlamps will be much simpler in shape and towards the fenders, endowing the sedan a classic look. Downwards, it has been endowed a sporty bumper with broader intake. It also sports a sleeker profile, coupe-like roofline and lengthier wheelbase.
Interior
Inside, it features a classy cabin but has little renovations when it comes to its dashboard and door panels. Still, it’s beautiful and comfortable to behold. Technology-wise, it has the Sensus Connect touchscreen from the XC90 and noticeably, the board bears the minimalist approach and tidier showcase.
Powertrain and Drivetrain
S90 borrows yet again the drivetrain from its kin, XC90; though, it will be available in T6 and T5 gasoline engines, D5 and D4 diesel cores and T8 hybrid… though all of them will be based in 4-cylinder units. But then again, T5, T6 and T8 are the assigned flavors in the United States; whereas, D4, D5, T6 and T8 are ones for the European shores. Yes, it’s going to be fun choosing your own core for S90 this time around.
You can choose either 6-speed manual transmission for fuel economy and optimized gear sets or 8-speed automatic for the best (at least in its class) driving efficiency.
